Annual Rock Jam 7th January 2012
For the past four years we have held a charity event on the first Saturday of the new year, which is loosely called a “Rock Jam”. What we do is to get together members of lots of the local bands (Not blues as we have a blues night every third Monday of the month) and play “a once a year one off event”.
The event is unusual in that throughout the evening no one plays together in their normal band line up. So you may have three songs with the drummer and bass player of one band the singer of another, and the guitarists from a third. The next three songs the line up changes again.
Which also means the whole of your band does not need to attend, but the more the merrier!
This is only possible by getting a list from everyone in advance of the songs they play and matching it with the songs other bands play (no we don’t do Slade Merry Xmas!!!)
The PA ,drums, lighting, amps etc. are all provided by Andover band Less is More, who have organised the music side of the event since it started, so you just need to bring your Sticks, Guitars and Singing Voice.
The whole thing is great fun, a bit chaotic, very full, and it’s all in a great cause, for two charities:-
Andover Young Carers, their website is here, if you would like to find out more about them http://www.andoveryoungcarers.org.uk/
and
Poole Hospital’s Cancer Ward, their website is here, if you would like to find out more about them http://www.poole.nhs.uk/fundraising/index.asp
It’s also great opportunity to meet and play with other likeminded musos.
Last year we had members of: Just Testing, Stonepig, The Directors, Torn off Strips, Less is More and Nailed, to name just a few…..
We hope as someone who has played at the Station, that you and maybe your fellow band members, would be able to attend this years event on the 7th January 2012.
If you are interested please contact Mark Holden - s.mark.holden@hotmail.co.uk, of Less is More, who will be able to give you any other details you need.
Please feel free to pass on to anyone you think might want to join in, or come and watch!
